In the Beginning, There Was Harriette Brooks . . . .
In honor of, I owe my creative talents to my mother who was a passionate master artist - painter and overall creative woman. When I was 18, I inspired my mother to start painting oriental art, particularly Japanese Geishas . . . . I have inherited her entire collection of approximately 50 of the most beautiful paintings that I will cherish forever . . . . (1935-2001)
The Nurturing . . . .
I was also fortunate enough to have a 5th grade teacher that took me under her wing, Mrs. Turner, who taught me to crochet at the young age of 9. By 10 years old, I had a thriving crochet business. I can remember like it was yesterday, all the neighborhood moms buying yarn for me to make their daughters and nieces a shell stitch crochet skirt and matching vest . . . They were willing to pay, and did, $35 per set . . . That was a lot of money for a 10 year old in 1967 . . . . . . .
Finding My Nitch in Life . . . .
My passion for textiles and clothing continued on a consistent path. Being a creative master, after a few hours of instruction, I taught myself many facets of the textile environment . . . stained glass . . . mosaic art . . . tailoring . . . pattern design . . . knitting . . . using nature to enhance my surroundings . . .
Self Discovery . . . .
I’ve lived in wonderful cities around the United States . . . cities that allowed my creativity to run rampant . . . Born in San Francisco, California, left in my early thirties . . . Relocated to Bremerton, WA for 7 years . . . from there, moved to Boston, MA for 5 years . . . currently living in Covington, GA, since August 2005. I can finally say, I’ve found my home . . . my resting place . . . The South being the only place my spirit feels at peace . . .
Life’s Purpose . . . .
My mission in life has always been to share completely, creatively, spiritually and most of all, PASSIONATELY . . . In just completing my life “full circle” . . . I came back to the same conclusion I started life with, as a very young child . . . If my message inspires / empowers just one person to listen to their inner child . . . their inner passion . . . and it already has . . . my life journey was worth it . . . .
My creations are also making their journey around the country . . . . . . . .
